Amou Haji, known as the “World’s Dirtiest Man,” lived in Iran and didn’t bathe for 67 years. Born in 1928, he became a hermit after a rumored heartbreak and chose to live in isolation.
Despite his questionable habits—eating raw roadkill, smoking animal dung, and avoiding water for hygiene—he lived to 94.
Haji preferred scavenging for food, including his favorite, porcupine, and drank up to 5 liters of water daily from a dirty tin can. Surprisingly, medical tests showed he remained healthy despite his unconventional lifestyle. His story challenges our assumptions about hygiene, health, and the human capacity to adapt.
